Is anger destroying your relationships?

Is your anger causing problems at home and at work?

Do people walk on eggshells around you for fear of upsetting you?

Chronic anger and angry outbursts do damage to people.

Relationships with family and friends become strained. Health is affected with headaches and sleep problems.

For the angry person it can feel like a vicious cycle that they can’t seem to break out of. People around them start ‘walking on eggshells’ and it can become a very lonely existence.

After an aggressive verbal or physical anger outburst you feel physically tired, depressed, and ashamed. You may feel that even though you want to change the way they behave, you can’t.

“I’ve always been angry. It’s just the way I am.”

“My father was angry and people say I’m just like him”

“All the men / women in my family are angry”

“I went to anger management classes & it didn’t help”

Anger & Depression

Increasing anger and irritability can also be a sign of depression. Assessment for depression is a very important in the treatment of anger. This is often overlooked in a group setting.

Depression is a serious illness that responds well to treatment. This will reduce the anger.

A registered psychologist is qualified and trained to treat depression.

Should I have Individual or Group Treatment?

Try individual anger management counselling instead of a group if you:

* feel very uncomfortable talking in a group

* have other problems such as:

Anxiety

Depression

Trauma

Childhood Sexual Abuse

Drug & Alcohol problems

* have tried groups with no real change

Anger is a useful emotion when you are in control. Instead of being controlled by your anger you can learn to be in control of it.

Counselling for anger management at Insight Psychology involves gaining a better understanding of yourself. You can feel happier and enjoy life again.
